Big Dogs? Not On Frontier
As I have found with many of the airlines small animals flying in-cabin is not a problem; however when it comes to larger pets there seems to only be a select few that will accommodate your request.
Frontier Airlines Pet Policy does accept a variety of pets where other airlines only allow domestic dogs and cats so if your pet happens to be a rabbit, guіnеа ріgѕ, hаmѕtеr, оr ѕmаll hоuѕеhоld bіrd Frontier might be a good choice. An advantage of flying Frontier is they do not need a health certificate; however, if you happen to have a connecting flight with another carrier they may require one, so it is always best to be prepared and know what you need when flying your pets.
HI Dena, thanks for this great article on flying frontier airlines.
They sound cheap at only $75 per segment.
I agree with you that please absolutely no lіоnѕ, оr tіgеrѕ оr bеаrѕ!
I see that they don’t take pets as cargo. I can imagine there would be HEAPS of issues with animal and fear and altitude. I was just wondering what your number #1 tips for travelling with animals is?
It is wonderful that you stopped by and checked out my review for Frontier Airlines. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
$75.00 is a bit cheaper than some of the other airlines if you can get a straight through flight, which I highly recommend if you are flying with your pet. Flying with you pet could get a little costly if you have a couple of different connections and most flights always have a layover somewhere, so with a layover, that would end up being 2 segments costing $150 one way.
It can be very stressful if your pet is not use to flying or using a kennel. The best way to get your pet ready for the flight is make sure you have checked the regulations for size of kennel and make sure your pet is able to stand up, turn around, and lay down naturally within the size of kennel specified by the airlines. For in-cabin flights I would recommend a soft sided kennel with plenty of ventilation as they will fit under the seat in front of you easier than a hard side kennel. Get your pet accustomed to being in the kennel that you choose as this will create less anxiety for your pet on the flight.
Many airlines do not allow snub nosed pets as with the changes in altitude they tend to have difficulty breathing, I myself would not recommend flying with a snubbed nose pet even if the airlines allows them.
Another tip is make sure you feed your pet 4 hours prior to your flight and offer plenty of water up until the time you board with your pet. Your pet will be more comfortable if they do not have a full stomach on the flight.
If you are like me and have dogs that will not fit in a kennel comfortably required for in-cabin flights you might want to check with either United Airlines or Delta Airlines as they can fly your pet cargo, but then that would be another whole group on concerns. You can check out my other reviews here for United Airlines and Delta Airlines.
I hope you have enjoyed the tips for flying with your pets and remember to bookmark my site and come back often as I am always updating with more information to keep your pets safe and healthy.
